The first thing that you should know about us is that Droylsden Little Theatre is a Registered Charity (no. 259447); everything from the performing, to theatre maintenance, to this very website, is done on a voluntary basis. The theatre is run by a Management Committee, who are elected by the theatre members at every Annual General Meeting (this usually takes place in September). There is also a sub-committee whose job it is to raise funds.
We perform six plays per year, from October to July, then have a break over the summer. Since 2000, a Variety Show has been tagged onto the end of each season as it has become very popular with our patrons, and is a great way to raise money for the continued improvement of the theatre.
There are six weeks in between each play; this is when we prepare for the production. Rehearsals are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings, whilst the set is built on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, with the occasional weekend thrown in when things get hectic.
If you would like to become involved with any of these activities, call the theatre on 0161 370 7713.
How To Find Us...
A few people seem to have had some difficulty in finding Droylsden Little Theatre - this is because we are not located in the building that's actually on Market St. for structural reasons, the theatre is in the building behind it: on Castle Close. I myself made this mistake on my first visit to the theatre, and wasted at least 10 minutes hammering on the wrong door! So in an effort to aide new visitors I've included the map below.
